What should we do if the shaft seal of the glass lined reactor fails?

Apr 20, 2022

The shaft seal is an important part of the glass-lined reactor, which plays a great role in the operation of the reactor. If there is a problem with the shaft seal in the glass-lined reactor, it must be taken seriously. This plays a decisive role in the tightness of the reactor. The operation of the reactor is inseparable from the balance of the temperature in the reactor. Once this stability is broken, will cause heat loss.

In order to ensure the normal operation of the glass-lined reactor, we must find the cause of its failure in time, so as to prescribe the right medicine and deal with the problem as soon as possible. The following will introduce the main reasons for the failure of the shaft seal of the glass-lined reactor and the corresponding solutions, hoping to help you.

1. Reasons for failure

The unreasonable structural design of the shaft seal causes the gap between the stuffing box and the shaft to be too large (25mm), which causes the packing width to be too large and affects the normal performance of the packing; there is no tight structure between the glass-lined reactor and the shaft, and the grinding The filler can easily fall into the kettle; there is no positioning bearing in the kettle, and the shaft deflection is large, which accelerates the wear of the filler.

Second, the solution

Using the original stuffing box, a corrosion-resistant bushing (composite material with a thickness of 15mm) is added to the inner hole of the stuffing box to reduce the width of the stuffing to 10mm; the stuffing is made of high carbon fiber woven material to improve its wear resistance, heat resistance and durability. Corrosion resistance; plus a T-shaped composite material positioning bearing can not only prevent the negative travel filler from falling into the glass-lined reactor, but also control the deflection of the shaft. The newly added bearing and bushing are high molecular polyethylene composite material.
