What materials are glass-lined reactors not suitable for reacting with?

Apr 15, 2022

The glass-lined reactor vessel can withstand common inorganic acids, organic acids, weak alkaline solutions and organic solvents and other media, and is superior to stainless steel equipment in the reaction of strong corrosive media such as hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and aqua regia. When we use it, we all know that the glass-lined reactor can be used for the reaction of corrosion-resistant materials, and it can also be used at higher temperatures, but in fact, it is not all materials that can participate in the reaction, there are some material cannot be used in the equipment and may cause physical damage to the equipment.

1. The materials participating in the reaction should avoid suspended solids. Generally speaking, there will be strong friction between the suspended solids and the glass-lined layer, and friction will also occur between the suspended solids. The inner part of the reaction kettle is relatively worn, and a large amount of electrostatic charge is also accumulated in the process. According to the relevant practice, the sparks generated by these electrostatic charges can even be several centimeters long in the air, waiting for sparks. When this level is reached, pinhole perforation may be caused to the glass-lined layer, and with the continuous increase of the number of feedings, the number of these holes will also increase, which will lead to damage to the equipment after a long time.

2. Avoid using materials with bubbles during stirring. In actual operation, inject gas through the feeding pipe near the agitator blade of the glass-lined reactor, and when the materials participating in the reaction in the tank reach the boiling point or close to the boiling point It is necessary to agitate the materials and stir when the liquid level of the materials involved in the reaction is relatively low. The above-mentioned conditions will cause a large number of bubbles to be generated in the reacted materials, and these bubbles will have a strong destructive effect on the glass-lined layer.
